Yoan Krastev in a navy blazer and light blue shirt

My name is Yoan – an ex risk consultant turned risk taker. I quit the finance job to build a life around what I actually want to be doing, not what I was told to want. Writing is part of that: about things most people feel but rarely say, about the standards we’re taught to chase without ever asking if they’re worth it.

It might look stupid from the outside. But once I realised my current life, as good as it is, wasn’t going to give me freedom of time, not soon enough, anyway, the decision stopped feeling like a choice.

Placeholder, row two. Why you write, and who it’s for. The reader you have in mind is probably someone a few years into a good corporate career, doing well by every external measure, and quietly asking whether this is the life they meant to build.

This is a good place for the moment or the reasoning behind leaving: what you saw, what you weighed, what finally tipped it.

Placeholder, row three. What you’re doing now and what’s next: the writing, the newsletter, the book these essays are slowly becoming.

Anything that makes you more than a job title belongs here too: where you live, what you read, what you do when you’re not working.

Placeholder, closing paragraph. What readers can expect, and where to go next: start with the articles, or get new essays by email. You can also find me on LinkedIn and Instagram, linked below.
